The club is at a bit of a crossroads - due to space restrictions, I am unable to keep large amounts of gear in the closet at the church. Not having the "starter" gear drives my initial class costs up, making for a larger entry cost to prospective students.
Not having many students ensures that I can spend lots of time with each of them, but keeps the club from growing.
I recognize that having the equipment will help me get more people through the doors, which will eventually increase the size of my membership. However, without the space to store the gear, I'll be "returning to my roots" of carting everything around in big bags in the back of the car. This is unworkable because the night(s) that I'd need said equipment are the days I take the train to the practice space from work in the afternoon. Not to mention how quickly the equipment deteriorates from being packed in duffle bags and tossed around. I certainly don't want to spend gobs of money to see it all falling apart before its time.
Compounded with the realization that until I have a large student base, I will be unable to move from my current space. The spaces around the neighborhood that have room for a fencing club would be prohibitively expensive even if I doubled my current membership.
So, I'm somewhat trapped in a Catch-22, and looking for ways to break out of it. Suggestions?
